Upstream Release Governance

Release Volume Scales.
Governance Rarely Does.

The Release Office enforces standards-aligned metadata governance before distribution — protecting identifier integrity, contributor/split discipline, genre taxonomy, usage clarity, and release structure as your catalog grows.

Metadata Inconsistency Compounds with Scale

Release output can scale faster than metadata governance. Metadata inconsistency rarely breaks everything at once. It accumulates quietly and surfaces later as repeated operational friction, identity confusion, and avoidable delivery corrections.

Metadata inconsistency does not only create delivery corrections — it can distort reporting, fragment identity attribution, and create preventable royalty discrepancies over time.

Where We Act

Structural Integrity

  • Eliminate identifier collisions before they distort reporting
  • Maintain clear version states and grouping logic across releases
  • Keep contributor roles and split logic consistent as your catalog grows
  • Reduce structural errors that lead to avoidable delivery corrections

Identity Governance

  • Keep artist representation consistent across the catalog
  • Reduce risk of identity fragmentation and lineage confusion over time
  • Maintain consistent internal identifier references across releases
  • Enforce naming discipline that scales with volume

Catalog Taxonomy (Genres & Versions)

  • Normalize genre/subgenre and tagging conventions across the catalog
  • Reduce metadata inconsistency in version labeling (Original / Remix / Edit / Remaster) as volume increases
  • Keep internal naming rules consistent across teams and releases
  • Prevent duplicate or conflicting representations of the same work

Commercial & Usage Clarity

  • Ensure permitted usage intent is explicitly defined before distribution
  • Reduce ambiguity in territory declarations and release configuration
  • Clarify exploitation intent before it reaches distribution systems
  • Reduce governance gaps that can lead to misattribution or under-accounted revenue

Standards & Platform Alignment

  • Monitor evolving industry standards, major DSP metadata guideline changes, and new platform feature rollouts
  • Flag structural adjustments required to maintain delivery resilience over time
  • Reduce risk of avoidable delivery friction as requirements evolve
  • Maintain catalog readiness for distributor migration or re-delivery

Governance engagements may begin with a full catalog audit or ongoing oversight.

For a limited time, we are offering a complimentary Catalog Assessment for selected labels evaluating structural risk.

Complimentary Catalog Assessment

If inconsistencies are visible in 30 releases, they likely scale across your full catalog.

What You Receive

What It Is Not

  • No distributor dashboard operations
  • No XML delivery validation
  • No royalty recovery or financial guarantees
  • No fixes included in the free scan

How It Works

1

Request the assessment

Submit a short intake with basic catalog context.

2

Share structured metadata

Provide a metadata sheet or export for up to 30 releases.

3

Receive the summary

Get your metadata inconsistency assessment, risk counts, exposure estimate, and governance gaps summary.

4

Review Findings and Options

You receive a structured assessment and determine whether full audit or ongoing governance support is appropriate.

FAQ

Do you need access to our distributor?

No. We operate upstream using the metadata you provide. Distributor dashboard access is not required for the scan or for ongoing governance.

Do you change anything in our systems?

No. We do not operate inside your distributor or internal platforms. We assess the metadata you provide, perform structural normalization and governance corrections within our framework, and return a structured, governance-ready dataset. Your team applies the updates within your systems.

Is this only for certain genres?

No. The scan is genre-agnostic because it evaluates governance quality, structural consistency, and identity discipline rather than creative style.

Will you recover lost royalties?

No. We do not provide royalty accounting, legal advice, or revenue recovery guarantees. Our role is upstream governance before distribution to reduce misattribution risk and prevent avoidable reporting discrepancies caused by structural metadata issues.

We already have a distributor—why do we need this?

Distributors execute delivery. They are not responsible for enforcing structural discipline across your catalog before distribution. Governance upstream reduces recurring operational friction and metadata inconsistency as release volume increases.

What if our metadata is already clean?

That is a useful outcome. The scan can confirm structural quality, quantify residual risk, and highlight any governance gaps before they scale with release volume.

Can you help set up an internal metadata framework?

Yes, when needed. If a structured source-of-truth is missing, we can set up a governance-ready framework as a prerequisite onboarding step before ongoing governance work.

Do you track changes in platform requirements over time?

Yes. As part of ongoing governance, we monitor major DSP metadata guideline changes, evolving industry standards, and new platform feature rollouts to flag structural updates that help keep catalogs deliverable and migration-ready.
